Antagonistical effect of DHA and EPA on damages induced by excessive iodine

  •   Objective   To observe the antagonistical effect of DHAand EPAon the interference to metabolism of protein, DNA, RNAand the expression of bcl-2, bax gene by excessive iodine.
Methods   Mice(weight 10-14 g)were divided into three groups randomly:the middle Iodine group(IN), ex cessive iodine group(IE)and excessive iodine added to DHAand EPAgroup(IEDE), 50 μg/Liodine water was drunk for IN group, 3 000 μg/Liodine water was drunk for IEand IEDE groups. The fo rage added to DHAand EPA was fed for IEDE group, after three monthes, the mice matched in each group. The weight of brain and hippocampus, the content of protein, DNA, RNA and the expression of bcl-2, bax gene in brain were measured at 30-day among the filial.
Results   The weig ht of br ain and hippocampus and content of protein, DNA, RNAin IE group were decreased sig nificantly than those of IN and IEDE group. The expression of bcl-2 in IE group was lower significantly than that of IN group, but the expression of bax was higher than that of IN group. The expression of bcl-2 and bax gene was non-difference significantly among the IEand IEDE group.
Conclusion   The DHA and EPA can antagonize the interference to metabolism of brain, but can't antagonize the expression change of bcl-2 and bax gene by excessive iondine.
