Objective To investigate the the situation of metabolic syndrome among Han-chinese and Korean-chinese in urban of yanbian area.
Methods Survey was carried out among 447 persons aged 50~60 y ears who lived in the area over 10 years.The data were gathered by face-to-face questionnaire.
Results (1) The prevalence rates of hy pertension, high FBG, dyslipidemia and metabo lic sy ndr ome in Ko rean-Chinese were significantly higher than those in Han-Chinese for men and women.(2)For women, the prevalence rate of WHR > 0.85 was significantly higher in Han-Chinese than that in Kore an-Chinese.
Conclusion There is difference in the rate of metabolic syndrome among Korean-Chinese and Han-Chinese in urban of yanbian area and the multifactorial intervention fo r metabolic syndro me need to be carried out as soon as possible.
