Treatment effect of brucea javanica and fructus psoraleae on pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in rats

  Objective   To study effect of killing cysts and prophy laxis and treatment of brucea javanica and fructus psoraleae on rats with pneumocystis carinii pneumonia(PCP).

  Methods   PCPanimal models were established by hypodermic injection of dex amethasone in rats, and treated with the mixture of brucea javanica and fructus pso raleae.To explore the effect of killing cysts, prophylax is and treatment of brucea javanica and fructus psoraleae on the disease rats by the changes of TNF-α in the serum, the mean cyst numberperfield in lung print smearand the pathological changes.

  Results   The damaged lung was lighten and repaired significantly, and cyst reduction was showed in the treatment group.The increase of TN F-αin the serum were more than the positive control group respectively.

  Conclusion   There is a significant effect of restraining and killing cysts with brucea javanica and fructus psoraleae.
