Analysis on current status of physical activity among residents in Beijing

  • ObjectiveTo provide baseline data on current status of physical activities among residents in Beijing for "Project of 2008 Olympic Health Legacy assessment".MethodsInformation on physical activity and personal information was collected among residents in Beijing,with employing a self-design awarded questionnaire released on media.ResultsThe percentage of participating regular physical activity was 59.6% among residents in Beijing.The current status of physical activity was affected by sex,age,employment,income,the distance to activity places,the attitude to the relationship between health education and pr ompting health,the attitude to the relationship between mass activity and prompting health,and satisfaction on activity establishments and places.Among residents participating regular physical activity,the percentages of people adopting walking,canter or walk quickly,and riding a bike were at the top three,and the percentages of people taking physical activity in ordinary outdoorenvironment,activity places in habitat and parks were very high.Most people took physical activity alone.ConclusionThe percentage of people taking regular physical activity is relatively high,with an evident community character.
