Doctors’ professional stress and its relation with their mental health

  • ObjectiveTo study the doctorsp professional stress and its relation with their mental health.MethodsUsing the Professional Stressors Scale and SCL-90 a sample of 303 doctors was tested.ResultsDoctors who experienced medium and high degree of stress accounted for 19.5% and 2.3% respectively.The highest stressors of the doctors were stressors caused by working treatment&load,professional level and medical treatment risk.The degree of some stressors of the doctors showed significant differences on age and gender factors.Factor scores and total score of Professional Stressors Scale were positively correlated with factor scores of SCL-90.Professional stressors could forecast the mental health of the doctors positively and remarkably.ConclusionThe professional stress of doctors widely exists,which seriously influences the mental health of doctors.
