Relationship between job stress, social support and teachers’ burnout

  • ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between job stress,social support and teachers' burnout in primary and secondary school.MethodsTotally 618 school teachers were investigated by questionnaires about MBI-ES,job stress and social support.The data were analyzed by SPSS 11.5 program.Results(1)The whole burnout state of school teachers was not serious but the emotion exhaustion was serious.(2)The teachers' burnout was positively related to job stress.The higher job stress was,the more serious teachers' burnout was.Role interface,student factor and professional development were the important affecting factors of the teachers' burnout.(3)The teachers' burnout was negatively related to the social support, and was mediated by the social support.(4)There were canonical correlation between,job stress,social support and teachers' burnout in primary and secondary school.ConclusionJob stress and social supporthave important effects on teachers' burnout in primary and secondary school.
