Antioxidation effect of emodin on exprimental periodonititis in rats

  • ObjectiveTo explore the antioxidation effect of emodin on experimental periodontitis in rats.MethodsPeriodonititis model rats were randomly divided into normal,model,iodoglycerin and emodin group.Emodin was administered tid for 10 days.After treatment,serum superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondiadehyde(MDA)and glutathione peroxidase(GSHPx)were measured.ResultsEmodin significantly increased the activity of SOD and GSH-Px,and derceased the level of MDA.ConclusionEmodin,powerful in antioxidation,helps to recover the health of periodontal tissue effectively.
