Study on outcome of chronic hepatitis C in plasmapheresis donors

  • ObjectiveTo determine the outco me of blood donors infected with hepatit is Cvirus(HCV)for 16 years.MethodsThe symptoms and physical signs of patients were filled in questinnaire.5ml venous blood was collected from each patient. The alanine transaminase(ALT),anti-HCV,HCV RNA and biochemical marker in sera were detected.ResultsAll of 162 patients didn't present severe hepatitis symptom and physical signs.95.68% showed evidence of positive anti-HCV; 77.78% showed positive HCV RNA.The abnormal rate of ALT was 20.37% in this cohort.Stratified analysis showed that anti-HCV in serum was easier to change to be negative female of infection age over 40 than other patients.ConclusionSerum conversion may be correlated with female gender and the age of the patient at the onset. The outcome of patients with different symptoms didn't present variance.
