Analysis on prevalence and influence factors of hyperuricemia among residents in Qingdao

  • ObjectiveTo assess the prevalence of hyperuricemia and its risk factors in Qing dao.Methods6 000 residents aged over 35 years from six districts of Qing dao were randomly selected and examined.General conditions,life styles, behaviors,and family histories were investigated.And physical check-ups and corresponding lab index were rendered.Data was analysed by SPSS 11.5.ResultsThe prevalence rate was 18.14% for all,higher in men(22.52%)than in women (15.2%)(χ2=40.12,P<0.001).The prevalence was 19.93% in urban ar eas and 16.42% in rural areas(χ2=10.05,P<0.01).Only 3.31% of the people with hyperuricemia was aware of the condition.The results of the Logistic regression showed thathyperlipidemia,overweight,alcohol intake,and income were the risk factors of hyper uricemia.ConclusionThe prevalence rate of hyperuricemia in Qingdao was high,with a low awareness.Health promotion on lifestyle changes may help to increase the public awareness and reduce the prevalence of hypemricemia.
