Antagonistic effects of sodium selenite,vitamin E and C on DNA damage

  • Objective To explore the anti-oxidization effects of sodium selenite,vitamin E and C after X-ray radiation.Methods Different dosages of sodium selenite,vitamin E and C were added into cell culture after irradiation to observe changes in DAN damage and synergistic effects between the both or three antioxidants by means of comet assay.Results Sodium selentie,vitamin E and C can decrease cell DNA damage(P<0.001).Synergistic effect existed between sodium selenite and vitamin C(P<0.05).Conclusion Sodium selenite,vitamin E,vitamin C can antagonize radiation DNA damage effectively,and the effect increases with the dose of the antioxidant.Synergistic effect exists between sodium selenite and vitamin C in antagonizing radiation DNA damage.
