Lesbian and its influencing factors among female college students

Objective To get information on the influencing factors of lesbian in female college students.Methods A randomized cluster sampling was conducted in colleges and universities in Wuhan area,in terms of types of colleges,majors(literature,science,medicine,art etc),and grades.A total of 5076 questionnaires was distributed,with 4769 questionnaires returned being valid.The return rate of valid questionnaires was 93.9%.The questionnaire investigation was conducted on an multiple-choice and anonymous basis.Data were input into computer and SPSS 12.0 software package was employed for statistical analysis.Results Among the students,64 had lesbian behavior(1.3%).Among the 64 students,67.2%(43 persons) had bisexual behavior.The rate of lesbian behavior in students of literature and history major(1.9%)was higher than other majors.The students with father of cadre had higher(2.1%)rate of lesbian behavior than students with father of other occupation,and the students with mother of teacher or researcher had higher(2.3%)r ate than students with mother of other occupation.The students coming from city had higher rate(2.1%)than students coming from other area.The students living in the open environment in the the middle school had higher rate(3.2%)than the students who living in conservative environment.The rate of lesbian behavior was higher(2.3%)in only child than in non-only child(0.7%),and the higher rate (3.8%)in the students whose parents divorced than in students whose parents was un-divorced(0.7%).Lesbian behavior was obviously influenced by major,culture degree of mother,occupation of parents,family's living environment,divorce of parents,the only child,and the attitude towards love and sex of the people around during the period of middle school.Conclusion Among female college students,there was lesbian behavior,and the lesbian behavior was influenced by major and some factors of population environment.
