Genetic characteristic analysis of vivax malaria transmission-blocking vaccine candidate antigen Pvs48 in Chinese Yunnan isolates

  • Objective To investigate the genetic characteristic of vivax malaria transmission-blocking vaccine candidate Pvs48 in Chinese isolates. Methods Blood samples were collected from patients infected with P.vivax from Yunnan epidemic areas. The parasite genome DNA was extracted. The DNA sequences were amplified.PCR products were directly sequenced. Results The 16 sequences of Pvs48 complete gene were obtained.Compared with Pvs48 Sal-I sequence, there were 6 non -synonymous mutation sites,3 kinds of haplotypes and 3 amino acid substitutions. Conclusion The limit genetic mutation of Pvs48 suggests that Pvs48 antigen is conserve. The limit genetic mutation of Pvs48 reinforces that the vivax transmission -blocking vaccine base on Pvs48 would promise a good prospect for a wide range application in China.
