Study on dietary intake and lipid peroxidation in submarine men

  • Objective To study the state of dietary intake and lipid peroxidation in different submarine men. Methods Twenty submar ine men under sea-training,16 submarine men under land-training and 20 logistic men were randomly selected from submarine troops.Intakes of energy and nutriments were known by diet survey. The total antioxidative capacity (T-AOC),malondialdehyde(MDA),superoxided dismutase(SOD),the proliferation of periphera-l blood lymphocyte(PPL) and the hemolytic degree of RBC were detected in each group. Results Result of diet survey indicated that intakes of protein,VC,VE and selenium of the submarine men were sufficient whereas the intakes of VA,VB1,VB2 were insufficient.Compared with the land-training submarinemen,SOD and the proliferation of PPL of the sea-training submarine men were significantly lower, but MDA and the hemolytic degree of RBC were significantly higher(P<0.05).Conclusion The intake of antiox idant vitamins of the submarine men are insufficient. The state of lipid perox idation of the sea-training submarine men are higher than that of the land-training submarine men.
