Analysis on epidemiologic characteristics of hypertension and its influence factors among rural residents in Shandong province,China

  • Objective To identify characteristics of hypertension prevalence and its influence factors for adults aged≥25 in midwestern rural areas of Shandong province and to provide evidence for intervention. Methods Subjects aged over 25 years-old were sampled by multi-stage stratified random ized sampling All kinds of infounation were collected by interview, physical examination and laboratory detection. The influence factorswere explored through logistic regression analysis. Results The mean of systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)was 135 mm Hg and 84mm Hg re-spectivelv in the target population Both means of SBP and DBP were higher in men than in women. The cmde prevalence rate of hypertension was 43.8% and 24.4%,11.9% and 5.8% for grade 1,2 and 3 hypertention, respectively. The standardized rate of hypertension was 37.8%,40.8% in men and 34.8% in women(P<0.01).The rate of hypertension increased with age The major risk factors for hypertention were age, body mass index, family history, diabetes, longtin a of static activity, more quantity of drinking and larger proportion of carbohydrate intake in the target population.Female and more vegetable intakewere protective factors of hypertension. Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension was high in survey area Obesity and diabetes intervention are the key points of prevention and control of hypertension.
