Influencing factors of IPSS and Qmax in middle aged and old male patients with essential hypertension

  • ObjectiveTo explore the influencing factors of international prostate syndrome score(IPSS)and maximum flow rate(Qmax)in middle aged and old male patients with essential hypertension in rural community.MethodsA population-based epidemiological investigation was conducted to collect 435 hypertensive male patients of 50 to 75 years old in Anqing,Anhui.Logistic regression was used for analysis of influencing factors.ResultsLogistic regression analysis showed that the main influencing factors of IPSS were age(OR 2.25,95% CI=1.45-3.48)and post void residual(OR 2.98,95% CI=1.92-4.63);the main influencing factors of Qmax were age(OR 2.22,95% CI=1.43-3.45),prostate volume(OR 2.39,95% CI=1.42-4.04),post void residual(ORR 2.09,95% CI=1.34-3.25)and smoking(OR 0.56,95% CI=0.31-0.99).ConclusionAge and post void residual are main influencing factors of IPSS.Main influencing factors of Qmax are age, prostate volume, post void residual.Cigarette using may reduce the risk for the decreased level of Qmax.
