Study on antibiotic resistance analysis with microbial source tracking method

  • ObjectiveTo set up an antibiotic resistance analysis with microbial source tracking method and track the source of the fecal pollution in a reservoir of the Huaihe River.MethodsFecal samples were collected from known pollution sources around the reservoir and indicator bacteria isolated from the samples were transferred onto the Trypticase Soy A gar plates with different antibiotics. The proper concentrations for the growth of the indicator bacteria were discrin inated with JMP 7.0 sofrivare.Water samples were collected for pollution source tracking.ResultsThe average rates of correct classification from the selected concentrations of antibiotics were 93.05% (two sources),85.75(three sources) and 78.53% (nine sources). The fecal pollution in the water sump les were mainly from swine, cow and chicken with the rate of 36 %,17% and 16%,respectively.ConclusionThe selected concentrations of antibiotics can be used to find the sources of the indicator bacteria.Antibiotic resistance analysis with microbial source tracking method can be applied to track the source of water bacterial pollution.
