Abstract
Objective To study the loneliness and related factors in normal undergraduates. Methods A total of 491 normal under graduates were selected randomly.Data were collected using the Emotional versus Social Lone liness Scale,Social Support Rate Scale,Trait Coping Style Questionnaire, and Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List. Results The mean lone liness score of urban students was significantly different from that of rural students.Negative life events and trait coping style were significantly positive-correlated with loneliness(P<0.01).While significant negative-correlations was observed between social support and lone liness(P<0.01).The results of regression analysis showed that social support and coping style influenced lone liness directly.Negative life events had direct influence on lone liness and indirect influence on lone liness through social supports and coping style. Conclusion Negative life event, social support, and trait coping style are important factors related to lone liness.
