Survey of psychological health in left-in-home junior middle school students

Objective To examine the psychological health status of left-in-home junior middle school students for making intervention measures.Methods The subjects consisted of 775 students from 3 township junior middle schools in Jiang xi.All the subjects were examined with mental healthtest(MHT).Results Among the subjects,72.4% were positive in one or two of the three items,and there was no significant defference in positive rate between left-in-home students and non-left-in-home students(P>0.05).16.5% of the left-in-home subjects were positive in the phobia test and 9.7% of the non-left-in-home were positive with significant difference(χ²=7.15,P<0.01).In the impulse test,the score of left-inhome subjects of grade 2 was significantly higher than that of non-left-in-home students and the ever-left-in-home students (4.49±2.25 vs 2.642.08,4.49±2.25 vs 3.91±2.41,F=3.89,P>0.05).In the self-accusation test,the score of male non-left-in-home subjects was significantly higher than that of the left-in-home males,and than the ever-left-in-home males (5.34±2.39 vs 4.69±2.54,5.34±2.39 vs 5.02±2.41,F=3.31,P<0.05).In the sel-faccusation test and the selfaw areness test,the score of non-left-in-home subjects of grade 3 was significantly higher than that of the left-in-home and the ever-left-in-home(5.85±2.21 vs 4.86±2.31,5.85±2.21 vs 4.42±2.71,F=3.94,P<0.05;5.84±2.10 vs 4.78±2.22,5.84±2.10 vs 5.50±2.84,F=3.34,P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with the non-left-in-home,the psychological health problems of the left-in-home junior middle school students are not significant different.However,there are distinctively more students with positive in the MHT test among the lef-in-home students.
