Prevalence of hyperuricemia and metabolic syndrome in health check-up subjects

  • Objective To learn prevalent characteristics of hyperuricem is (HUA)and metabolic syndrom a (MS)in the adults having health check-up in Tianjin city form along strategy for the control of the diseases.Methods The health check-up results of 18 100 examinees were analyzed according to the diagnostic criteria of HUA and MS recommended by Chinese Medical A ssociation.Results The total num ber of HUA was 2 294 with 696 males and 1 598 females.The prevalence of HUA was 12.74% (10.90% in the male, 13.64% in the female).The HUA prevalence of the fern ales was higher than that of the males (P<0.05).The total number of patients with HUA and MS was 902 (339 males, 563 females).The comorbidity rate of HUA and MS was 4.99% (5.31% in themale,4.81% in the females).The comorbidity rate of the males was higher than that of the females(P<0.05).There was an increasing trend in the prevalence of HUA with the increase of metabolic disorder(P<0.05).Conclusion The prevalences of HUA and MS in the population are high and it is necessary to do screening and comprehensive intervention among the population with high risk of HUA and MS.
