Incidence of mild cognitive impairment and its subtypes among the elderly in communities of Guiyang city

Objective To investigate the incidece of mild cognitive inpainn ent(M C I) and its subtypes among the elderly in comm unities of Guiyang city.Methods A follow-up study was conducted among 2200 persons aged 60 years and over with noonal cognitive function.The cognitive function of the subjects was asessed with mini-mental state exam ination(MMSE).The general condition of the subjects was described and the incidences of MCI among different sub-opulation were compared with Chi-square test and a test.Results Among the subjects,the incidence of MCI was 15.6/1 000 perosn years and am nestic MCI was 11.0/1 000 person years.There was no amnestic MCI-single domain observed The incidence of amnestic MCI-multiple domain,non-amestic MC1,non-amnestic MCI-single domain,and non-am nestic-multiple domain was 11.0,4.6,0.4,and 4.2/1 000 person years,respectively.The incidence of amnestic MCI was higher than that of nonamnestic MCI.The incidence of multiple domains' subtype was higher than that of single domain The female had a higher incidence than male in non-amnestic MCI.The illiterates had a higher incidence than others in non-am nestic MCI(P<0.05).Conclusion The incidence of MCI subtypes is different.The incidence of MCI is different in sub-opulations.
