Effect of lowpower microwave radiation on DNA damage of germ cells in male mice

Abstract
Objective To evaluate possible effects of lowpower microwave radiation on DNA damage of germ cells in mice. Methods Forty male mice were randomly divided into four groups.Three expermiental groups were exposed to lowpower microwave radiation(900M Hz,250 w/cm2)for 5,10,15 days.DN A damage of germ cells was observed with cometassay. The Comet A ssay Software Project(CA-SP)software was used to analyze the cometimages based on percentage of tail length(TL),tail DNA(TDNA%)and Olive tailmoment(OTM).Results The comet cell rate in expermiental groups was significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.01),and the differences compared with the control group in average TL,TDN A%,OTM of cometin expermiental groups were significan t(P<0.01).Conclusion Lowpower microwave radiation could cause DNA dam agein germ cell in a time-dependent manner.
