Analysis of influential factors for abnormal glucose metabolism with cumulative odds logistic regression

Objective To explore main influential factors for abnormal glucose metabolism and to provide scientific evidence for conducting diabete smellitus type 2(T₂DM) prevention programe.Methods A sample of 3212 community residents aged over 40years was chosen from Baoding city with randomcluster sampling.The residents completed a question naire and received physical examination and laboratory test.The cumulative loggstic regression was used in the data analysis.Results DM family history,waist circum ference,trigly ceride,waisthip ratio,engaged in technical work,systolic blood pressrue,age,body mass index,ill temperorirr itability,consumption of fruit,gender,reproductive history of fetal macro somia(only to female) were significantly associated with the progress of abnormal glucose metabolism.Among them,female and a high consumption of fruit were protective factors,the others were risk factors.Conclusion A bnormal glucose metabolism is related to many factors.T₂DM could be prevented by adjusting diet,taking physical exercise,controling weight,blood pressure and serum lipid,keeping mental health,and stopping smoking and a lcohol drinking.
