Influence factors of gestational diabetes mellitus in Shenyang, a case-control study

Objective To investigate the influential factors of gestational diabetes mellitus(GMD),and to provide evidence for etiologica l study of GDM.Methods Seventy four GDM patients were chosen through screening in Maternal and Child Health Unita s case group,and 76 healthy pregnant women were chosen at the same unit and same period as control group.Results Based on the analysis,GDM was probably a ssociated with obesity in pregnancy(odds ratioOR=15.139,95% confidence intervalCI=2.910-78.765),body mass index before pregnancy(OR=1.317,95% CI=1.094-1.584),DM family history(OR=4.531,95% CI=1.065-19.284) and quantity of fruit intaking during pregnancy(OR=0.472,95% CI=0.241-0.926).Conclusion Obesity in pregnancy,BMI before pregnancy and DM family history are probably risk factors for GDM,and the quantity of fruit intake during pregnancy may be a protective factor for GDM.
