Health status and its related factors among Three Gorges migrants in Shandong province

  • Objective To explore health status of Three Gorgesmigrants in Shandong province,and to analyze related factors of health status.Methods Totally 617 Three Gorges migrants and 663 local residents were selected using stratified cluster samping method form 4 regions in Shandong province.Faceoface in terview was carried outwith a self made questionnaire.SPSS16.0 was used in analysis.Results The two weeks sickness prevalence among the migrants was 33.9%;the prevalence of chronic diseases was 35.0%,both of which were higher than those of local residentswith significant difference(P<0.05).Age,occupation,living adaptation,the degree of satisfaction with personal income were related to two week disease preva lence(P<0.01).Age,living adaptation,the degree of satisfaction to personal income were related to chronic diseases(P<0.05).Conclusion The health status of the Three Gorgesmigrants is poor.We should provide appropriate health service based on the need of the migrants in order to improve the irhealth status.
