Fatigue status among medical staff in surgical departments

  • Objective To determine the prevalence and in fluence factors of fatigue among medical staff in surgical deparmtent and to provide scientific evidence for prevention of chronic fatigue syndrome.Methods Altog ether 647 doctors and nurses in surgical deparmtents of three first grade hospitals in Hainan province were selected for a cross sectional survey.All subjects were a ssessed with Fatigue Scale 14(FS 14)and a self administered questionnaire for general information.Results The mean score of FS 14 was 7.83±2.94.The score was significantly higher than that of control subjects.The difference in total fatig ue between different gender was not statistically significant.But the difference in mental fatigue scores was statistically significant between women and men.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the influential factors of fatigue among the medical staff were without breakfa stfrequently,irregular die,two rking duration,education,night-shift ≥2 times a week,weekly work ing hours,and workplace.Conclusion The influence factors of fatigue among doctors and nurses in surgical department are complex.Therefore,comprehensive measures should be taken to prevent the illness.
