Prevalence of perinatal congenital heart disease and its influencing factors: a case-control study

  • Objective To investigate the prevalence and inflcencing factors of perinatal congenital heart disease in Hangzhou city.Methods Retro spective review of the data on reported perinatal defects(birth defect register)from 2006 to 2008 in Hangzhou city was conducted and the preva lence of perina tal congenital heart disease were analyzed.Results To tally 459 cases of perinatal congenital heart disease were found and compared with 977 normal cases born at the same area during the same period.The proportion of different congenital heart disease was 19.39% for ventricularseptal defect,16.12% for atrial septal defect,14.38% for patent ductusarte riosus,12.20% for tetralogy of Fallot,2.40% for aorticste nosis,3.05% for pumlonary stenosis,and 32.36% for other types,respectively.The history of flu of the mother and home decoration during early pregnancy were promotion factors of congenital heart disea se;educational level of mother and folate supplem entation during early pregnancy were protective factors of congenital heart disease(P<0.05).Conclusion Perinatal congenital heart disease is associated with flu of mothe,rhome decoration,educational level of mothe,rand folate supple mentation during early pregnancy.
