Hospital visit status of outpatients for basic medical institutions in Gansu province

Objective To study the requirements of rural residents on health appropriate technology in Gansu province.Methods With stratified cluster sampling method,1 673 outpatients from Gaolan and Linze counties were chosen to investigate the irhospital visit status.Results The main diseases of the outpatients were acute upper respira to rytract infection,unknown illnes sign or symptom,pharyngitis,laryng itis,ton sillitis and tracheitis,and acute or chronic gastroente ritis.The average cost of each clinic visit was 34.93±2.84,31.41±2.47,and 17.15±2.21 RMB Yuan for hospitals of county level,town level,and village clinic,respectively.The reasons for the outpatients selecting medical in stitution at county or town level were short distance to the hospital,good medical skill,and better service a ttitude of the medical staff.Conclusion We should choose appropriate health technology based on the major disease and different medical demand of outpatients in ruralarea.
