Nosocomial infection among inpatients in general intensive care unit

  • Objective To analyze the state of no socomial infection among inpatients in general in tensivecare unit(ICU),and to provide evidence for reducing hospital infection rate.Methods Using targetm onito ring method we compre hensively analyzed 1719 patients admitted into general ICU from Jan,2004 to Dec,2009.Results The infection rate of the patients was 30.95%.The main infection site was lower respiratory tract and the main bacteria were Gramnegative bacilli and Gram positive cocci.Gramstained negative bacilli were the main pathogens for no socomial infection,among which pseudomonas aeruginosa was on the top causing 13.61% of all infection cases,followed by Staphylococcus aureus causing 9.52% of all infection cases.Conclusion The patients in ICU are susceptible population of no socomial infection.Much more attention should be paid to targetmonitoring in ICU and intervention should be taken to reduce the prevalence of no socomial in fection.
