Expressions and correlation of MGMT, hMLH1 in esophageal cancer among Kazak patients

  • ObjectiveTo study expressions and correlation of MGMT and hMLH1 in esophageal cancer tissue and normal tissue among Kazak and to investigate the relationship between their expressions and clinical pathological feature.MethodsWe investigated the expression of the DNA repair enzyme:O6-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase(MGMT), and the mismatch repair(MMR)enzyme hMLH1 in 48 esophageal cancer specimens of Kazak with RT-PCR.The relationship between clinical pathologic feature and the expression of MGMT and hMLH1 mRNA level were studied.ResultsThe positive rates of MGMT and Hmlh1 mRNA level in cancer tissue were higher than those of normal tissues(79.2% vs 47.9%,P<0.05),respectively.And there were significant differences in the expressions of MGMT and hMLH1 protein between different clinical pathological factors such as histologic classification,infiltrating depth,lymph node metastasis,and TNM stages(P<0.05).Kappa analysis indicated that the expressions of MGMT and hMLH1 in the Kazak's esophageal cancer were positively related each other(κ=0.560,P<0.05).ConclusionThe expressions of MGMT and hMLH1 may be related to the carcinogenesis and progression of esophageal cancer among Kazak.
