  • Objective To examine two-week morbidity rate and medical service use among community residents in Tianjin and to provide reference for allocating health resources and offering medical services effectively. Methods Multistage cluster random sampling was adopted to obtain the sample population. We collected data by means of face-to-face questionnaire survey and physical examination. Results The two-week morbidity rate of the community residents was 33.21%(31.87% for male,34.45% for female). The top five diseases with higher two-week morbidity rate were hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, upper respiratory illness, and cerebrovascular disease with slight difference compared to the results of the 4th survey on the medical service in Tianjin in 2008.The ratio of sick persons seeking medical service in two weeks was 85.00%.The three main reasons for the sick persons did not seek medical service were self-rated alleviation of the disease, economic problem, and being busy. Conclusion The general health level of Tianjin community residents need to be enhanced and chronic diseases have become the key influencing factors to the community residents' health.Much more medical service is in demand among community residents.
