Social capital and HIV/AIDS in China:a systematic review

Objective To systematically review empirical studies on the association between social capital and human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndromes(HIV/AIDS) in China.Methods The relevant studies were systematically searched;eligible studies were graded;and relevant data were extracted.Results A total of 11 literatures were identified.The results showed that the yearly number of articles fluctuated strongly;the definition of social capital defined by Lin Nan was referenced mostly.The research level and contents of the articles are relatively simple.Both positive and devastating impacts of social capital on AIDS-related issues were found in the included articles.Conclusion Studies have proved that that there is a connection between social capital and HIV/AIDS in China and there are great differences in the definition and measurement of social capital compared with the researches abroad.
