Prevalence of sub-health among adult residents of Qianjiang municipality,Hubei province

Objective To explore the prevalence and distribution characteristics of sub-health among residents Qianjiang city for making specific interventions.Methods A total of 2 999 urben and rural residents aged 18-60 years were recruited from ten districts of Qianjiang municipality with stratified random sampling and surveyed with Sub-Health Measurement Scale Version 1.0 (SHMS V1.0) from January to March 2015.Epi Data 3.01 and SPSS 18.0 were used for statistical analysis.Results The mean total score of SHMS V1.0 for the participants was 76.06±10.89 and the domain scores were 74.31±13.69,72.73±14.46,and 64.30±15.23 for physical,mental,and psychological sub-health,respectively.The prevalence rate of sub-health was 65.80%(1 973/2 009) among all the participants and 68.8% and 67.1% for male and female residents;no significant between-gender difference (χ²=2.979,P=0.341) and between-age group difference (χ²=0.906,P=0.341) in the prevalence rate were observed.Conclusion Sub-health is prevalent among adult residents of Qianjiang municipality;more attentions should be paid and specific measures should be taken to control the prevalence of sub-health among the residents.
