Effects of taurine on indexes of bone marrow in lead poisoned rats

  •   Objective   To determine the effects of taurine on some signal transmitters and other indexes of bone marrow in lead poisoned rats.
Methods   Wistar rats were divided into two groups: control group, lead group.1-30 day treated with lead acetate〔60 mg/(kg·d)〕.Then lead group were randomly divided into four groups: lead control group; group 1 lead+taurine, group 2 lead acetate〔60 mg/(kg·d)〕, group 3 different concentrations of taurine〔200, 400, 800 mg/(kg·d)〕.At the end of the experiment the rats were killed, the samples of blood and bone were taken for test.
Results   (1) Blood lead contents in every lead-tau groups were all different from those in lead control group(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).(2)After treating with taurine the content of nitric oxide(NO)and thiol, the activity of nitrite oxide synthase(NOS)and inducible NO synthase(iNOS)in bone marrow of 800 mg lead-Tau group were different from those in lead control group(P < 0.05).The content o glutamate of 400 mg lead-Tau group was different from those in lead control group(P < 0.05)as well.
Conclusion   The taurine can modulate the disturbance of some signal transmitters in rats during lead poisoning to protect lead toxicity in bone marrow.
