Effect of childbirth education on psychology and delivery of primipara

  Objective   To investigate the effect of childbirth education on psychology and delivery of primipara.

  Methods   One hundred and twenty pregnant women were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group equally.Sixty pregnant women in the experimental group received the childbirth education while the control group received the routine care.The instruments were SAS and SDS.

  Results   The subjects in the experimental group had mean scores of SAS and SDS lower than that in the control group with statistically significant difference(P < 0.01).And the rate of cesarean section in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group(P < 0.01).

  Conclusion   The childbirth education was useful for primipara.It should be used in the primipara during pregnancy in the third trimester in China.
