Effect of humidity on emission of formaldehyde from phywood

  •   Objective   To study the effect of humidity on emission of formaldehyde from plywood.
      Methods   A 0.25m3 simulation chamber was used to explore the emission of formaldehyde from plywood under different conditions of humidity.The temperature of simulation chamber was kept at(23±0.1)℃, the velocity of ventilation at 1.0L/min, the loading factor at(1±0.03)m2/m3.
      Results   The concentration of formaldehyde in chamber varied with time at different humidities matching the hyperbolic logarithm relation.The concentration of formaldehyde in chamber raised remarkably when the humidity exceeded 50% above.The stabilization concentration of formaldehy de in chamber varied with humidity matching the index exponent relation.
      Conclusion   The humidity had an great effect on emission of formaldehyde from plywood.The emission of formaldehyde increased with the increase in humidity.Further more, an index exponent relation between the humidity and the formaldehyde emission was observed.Especially, the emission of formaldehyde from plywood raised dramatically in the case of higher humidity.
