Objective To understand menopause women's prevention and health by investigating women's behavior and attitude toward menopause syndrome and hormone replacement therapy(HRT)
Methods A prospective study was conducted in 4.489 Chinese women living in defferent areas of Guangdong province.A structured questionire was used to examine their perception of menopause and HRT.
Results Most of women had the attitude to endure the climacteric symptoms, only 19.9% women would consult doctors.36.2% of them would consult physicians, 341.1% of them would consult herbalist doctors, only 20.3% of them would consult gynecologist. 1.4% of investigated women were using HRT.The wonmen's behavior and attitude were affected by culture level, profession, economic level.And the women living in different areas had different attitude.Women of post menopause had different attitude from women before menopuse.
Conclusion A relative lack of understanding of menopause and HRT was showed.Improved education about menopause and HRT in this group of Chineses should be considered, especially in poor countries and mountain areas.
