Objective To estimate relative risk between body mass index and diabetes.
Methods To collect cross-sectional studies on the relative risk between body mass index and diabetes for 1990 to 2002, 18 studies finally was involved into meta-analysis after quality evaluation.
Results Adults of relative risk of BMI≥24 or BMI≥25 are 2.28 and 2.46 by fixed effect model analysis.
Conclusion High BMI is one of important risk factors for diabetes.
