Objective To investigate the iodine nutritional status of population who have non-iodized salt in Daishan island.
Methods 100 pregnant women were included in this study.The diet investigation was carried out and urinary iodine was detected to assess the pregnant women's iodine nutritional status.At the same time, the TSH level of neonate in was tested 4 towns which were selected from Daishan(non-iodized salt district)by random sampling.The mamn-Whitney test was used to Compar the urinary iodine and dietary intake quantity of the strata.The spearman correlation was used to look for the correlation of urinary iodine and dietary iodine intake quantity.
Results The median of dietary iodine intake and urinary iodine of pregnant was 291.3μg/d and 79.3μg/L.The median of neonate's TSH was 3μU/ml.The median of dietary iodine intake and urinary iodine of baby was 34.5μg/d and 86.1μg/L respectively.
Conclusion Taking measures to strengthen salt iodization was necessary to pregnant women and babies with non-iodized salt in Zhoushan islands.
