Objective To investigate the clinical effects of chromium-rich brewer's yeaston blood sugar which were extracted from saccharomyces cerevisiae byextractive and ultra-filtration.
Methods 132 patients with type 2 diabetes were divided randomly into treatmentgroup and control group. The patients in the treated group took orally chromium-rich brewer's yeastwhich contented 200 Lg chromium/dayexceptfor mer treatproject.3 months later, the levels of FBG, PBG, insulin and HbAIC were measured.
Results The levels of FBG, PBG, insulin and HbAIC in treated group were decreased significantly than those of control group. The frequency of FBG levels under 7.0 mmol/l were 41% in treated group and 24% in contrgroup.
Conclusion Chromium-rich brewer's yeastcan remarkably reduce the blood sugar of type 2 diabetes patients, which may be related to itcan increase the effects of insulin or the sensitivity of receptor, butnotto impr ove the insulin's excretion.
