A Study on the Infection of Hepatitis B Virus and Its Determinants in Newborns and Infants

  • Thirty two newborn and infants whose mothers were positive for HBsAg and another 32 whose mothers were HBsAg-negative had been followed up for 2 years. The HBsAg-positive rates were 65.6% and 3.1% respectively. The rates of HBV infection were 75.0% and 3.1% respectively. Of 21 HBsAg-positive children, 17(80.9%)became chronic arriers.
