Preliminary Report on Isolation of Aeromonas hydrophila and Plesiomonas shigelloides from Patients with Acute Diarrhea

Five strains of Aeromonas hydrophila(A.h.) and one strain of Plesiomonas shigelloides(P.s.)were isolated from patieats with acute diarrhea from August to October 1983 in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province. Biochemical reactions and other characteristics of the isolates were consistent with those of the typical species.The isolatioa rates for A.h. and P.s. were 6.3% and 1.3% respectively.Relative importance of A.h. among the enteropathogenic bacteria was only next to ETEC and Shigellae.
