Exploring the approaches of multivariate multilevel model to Meta-analysis

  • Objective:to explore the applicability of the multivariate multilevel model to Meta Analysis; Methods:focusing on the property of some Meta analysis data with two effect magnitudes,to fit two-level model with two-responses to estimate parameters and to make prediction; Results:with the fitted model, estimates of two mean effect magnitudes with their correlation, and affecting factors were obtained simultaneously; Conclusion:when more than one effect magnitudes exist in data of Meta-analysis,multivariate multilevel model should be employed to estimate the values of all the mean effect magnitudes and their corresponding confidence intervals. Moreover, multivariate multilevel model allows the analysis of correlation among mean effect magnitudes, and the exploration of affecting factors,to be conducted.
