Epidemiological Analysis of External Cause of Accidential Death of Residents in Disease Surveillance Spots in Guangdong Province

In this paper descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyse the death surveillance data of the residents of 5 national disease surveillance spots in Guangdong Province from 1991 to 1997.The result show ed that the number of accidential death amounted to 7.37 % of the total number of death, the average death rate by year was 30.74/ 100000, which ranked the fourth of the classification of death causes next to heart and cerebrovascular diseases, neo plasms and diseases of the respiratory system.The first three external causee of accidential death were accidential drowning, traffic accident and suicide ;There were significant diferences between city and countryside, male and female, among different age groups in accidential death rate and chief death causes. It was prompted that occurrence of accidential injury and death are able to be reduced by means of such measures as streng thening living safety education and guard to children, enforcing eduction of traffic safety to people and improving the traffic conditions, enhancing personal civilization quality and developing good individualities.
