Association between Gastric Cancer and p53 Gene Mutation with p53 Protein Overexpression

  • The total of 112 cancer tissues and 112 adjacent noncarcinoma gastric mucosa were tested with PCR-SSCP and ABC-immunohistochemistry methods to explore the clinical signififcance of p53 gene. The result showad that the mutation occurred in 57 cancer samples. There was no significant correctlation between the mutation of gene and some prognostic criteria. The positive nuclear staining were 50. 8% in tumor tissues. Only one tumor adjacent normal tissue was positive . If the gastric cancer has metastases to lymph nodes, the occurrence risk of p53 abnormality was invreased greatly(OR=4.44,P= 0.006).It was showed by the Logistic regression analysis that all the overexpression of p53, the poor differention of cancer and the deep immersion should contribute to the lymph node metastasis.
