Study on knowledge level related to HIV/AIDS and high-risk behaviors in STD outpatients

Objective To explore the status of HIV/AIDS related knowledge and high risk behaviors among sexually transmitted diseases(STD)outpatients.Methods To analyze the general condition,HIV/AIDS-related knowledge,high risk behaviors and intervention of 971 STD outpatiens.Results The overall awareness rate of the AIDS-related know ledge was 52.52% and a higher rate was found in subjects with higher education.The AIDS knowledge was disseminated mainly by the mass media and rarely by doctors.In the 971 patients,26.78% had sexual experience with commercial sexual partners within the recent three months,and only 10.85% of them used condoms every time.333(34.29%)patients had sexual experience with provisional sexual partners in the recent three months,and only 9.91% of them used condoms every time.The rates of receiving intervention services were low.Conclusion There exist risks of HIV infection in the STD outpatients,and the frequency of using condom of the patients is very low.The awareness of HIV/AIDS-related knowledge needs to be raised.
