Analysis on eggs supplement status among children under 3-year-old in 46 poor rural areas of western China

  •   Objective  To analysis eggs supplement status under 3 years old in rural area of western China, and the relationship between that and growth development of less 3-yea-rold children.To study the present problems of eggs supplement, and to look for the valid intervention methods for improving children.s nutrition status.
      Methods  Under the design of crosssectional study and randomly sampling, The database was set by Epi Info(6.0)software, all the data was recorded with duplicate entry, SPSS11.0 was used to analysis data.
      Results  The present problems of eggs supplement among less 3-yea-rold children were that the first introducing time was unreasonable and the amount was inadequate.OR values between eggs.impropriety supplement and stunning, under weight and wasting were 1.287, 1.286 and 1.469 respectively.The result of Logistic regression analysis showed that the hazardous ingredients for eggs.reasonable supplement are minornation, not breas-tfeeding with 4 moths age, loweducation of mothers and fathers and the large number of children in family.Compar ison of the eggs.supplement status among 1999, 2000 and 2001 showed that the first introduce time headed 0.67 months(χ2=62.848, P < 0.05), and the rate of adequate supplement increased form 42.1% in 2000 to 54.8% in 2001(χ2=42.578, P < 0.05).
      Conclusion  Development of health education on the knowledge of complementary food in poor rural area in western China would be an accessible approach to improve the status of food supplement and growth of local children.
