Abstract
To explore the influence factors of recurrent respiratory infection among preschool children.MethodsAn exploratory case-control study was conducted among preschool children in Yiwu city,China,from 1 June, 2009 to 30 September,2010.A total of 180 children aged 3-7 years and with reccurent respiratory infection were recruited from Maternal and Child Care Center of Yiwu city and 540 age-and gender-matched controls were also recruited.A questionnaire on social economic status,forester factors,and environment factors was used and serum samples of the subiects were also collected.ResultsThere were no significant differences in social and demographic characteristics.Multivariate analyses showed that rickets(odds ratioOR=1.73,95% confidence intervalCI:1.08-2.76;P<0.05),snack use (OR=1.40,95% CI:1.01-1.96;P<0.05),and food preference(OR=1.37,95% CI:1.06-1.17;P<0.05)were the risk factors of recurrent respiratory infection among the children.ConclusionRickets,snack use,and food preference may be the risk factors of recurrent respiratory infection and health behavior should be promoted among the children to prevent recurrent respiratory infection.
