Human resources in provincial centers for disease control and prevention

  •   Objective   To examine general situation of human resource management in China's provincial centers for disease control and prevention (CDCs) in 2016 and to evaluate the implementation of national policies by provincial CDCs for promoting the standardization construction of CDCs at province level.
Methods   We collected and analyzed the data on implementation of manning quota, ratio of technical personnel, and management of post setting in provincial CDCs.
Results   Of the 31 provincial CDCs in China, 28 conducted surveys and field studies on institutional manning quota. The ratio of technical personnel was up to 85% for 17 provincial CDCs and the ratio of health professional personnel was up to 70% for 24 provincial CDCS. Post setting management was carried out in 22 provincial CDCs.
Conclusion   The construction of talent team needs to be improved in provincial CDCs in China. There is a great disparity in human resources management and the construction of health professional personnel should be strengthened among provincial CDCs.
