Myopia prevention and control among children and adolescents in Singapore and their enlightenment to China

  • In recent years, the incidence of myopia in children and adolescents in China has risen sharply and the situation has attracted attention of the society. As one of the countries with the highest prevalence of myopia in the world, Singapore government has taken effective measures to prevent and control myopia among children and adolescents, such as the establishment of an integrated department for coordinating the prevention and control of myopia, various forms of publicity on myopia health knowledge, various forms of funding for poor students to obtain clear correction of vision, reducing students′ academic burden, increasing investment in scientific research, and accelerating the transformation of scientific research results. The study summarizes and analyzes the prevention and control measures of myopia in Singapore and discusses the enlightenment of Singapore′s experiences to myopia prevention and control among Chinese children and adolescents to provide references for the prevention and control of myopia in China.
