Introduction and experience enlightenment of Australia National Biosecurity Strategy

  • Australia possesses extensive experience in biosecurity and maintains a leading global position in biosecurity governance. In response to increasingly severe traditional and non-traditional security threats, and the urgency of global biosecurity governance, Australia released its first National Biosecurity Strategy in 2022, providing scientific guidance and strong support for its biosecurity efforts. This strategy comprehensively describes Australia′s biosecurity system, thoroughly analyzes its biosecurity environment, and proposes six priority areas and key actions. This article introduces the main contents of Australia National Biosecurity Strategy and combined with China′s specific circumstances, proposes measures such as fostering a biosecurity culture, adopting a mass-line approach to biosecurity, cultivating a highly skilled biosecurity workforce, leveraging technology to empower biosecurity governance, and strengthening border security. This aims to provide a reference for China′s biosecurity capacity building and biosecurity strategy development, contributing to the enhancement of China′s biosecurity safeguards.
